The Top Ten Lies Men and Women Tell

When it comes to lying, men are far more likely than women to tell a fib — and may not even feel guilty about it! That’s the word from the British Science Museum in London. The number one lie men tell is “I didn’t have that much to drink,” which is meant to mislead their partner about their drinking habits. Meanwhile, women use the line “Nothing’s wrong! I’m fine” to hide their true feelings.

Still, women insist they are better liars than men. We are more likely to lie to our mothers than to our partners. 25% of men admit to lying to their mom, compared with 20% of women. But only 10% of both men and woman said they were likely to lie to their partner. Women are more likely than men to feel guilty after telling a lie. 82% of women say it bothers them when they fib, compared with just 70% of men.
